Onam Celebrations & Petition to MP

During the last week we tried to meet many families to inform about Onam Celebrations in Derby & to collect signatures for local MP so that he can present in the parliament.
We have realised that this is taking much more time than we anticipated and it is not advisable to delay the petition.

Date & Time - 20th September 2008 , Saturday From 9AM to 4 PM
Venue - Geetha Bhavan Hall , 96 - 102 Pear Tree Road, Derby , DE23 6QA
There will be various traditional Onam Competitions & Cultural Programmes
And the main highlight will be a delicious Onasadya

Tariff
£20 - For Family with no children or children less than 4 years
£25 - For Family with one child older than 4 years
£30 - For Family with more than one child.

Babu & Alda Got Married in Derby

First of its kind in Derby, may be in UK. Derby witnessed an inter-religion marriage on last Thursday 10th July 2008 morning at 11.30. The bridegroom Babu hails from Ankamali and the bride Alda from Kottayam.
The marriage was blessed at Geethabhavan Hindu temple by priests Mukesh. Babu is a Christian and a singer of Malayalam masses and Alda is Hindu. Alda will be converted to Christianity and their marriage will be blessed again in Christian church back home by end of this year. Both are nurses and working now in Hereford, but their adaptation was in Derby.
So, they could not forget Derby and their loving Friends in Derby .
Derby Malayalee Association wishes them a happy and successful married life !!
